Hi, all courageous readers.
This is the introductory post for a blog that chronicles the intrepid story of the S&H "trip out west": from Seattle to San Francisco (somehow via Vancouver) starting next Friday.
I went with "S&H on the Road to Sonoma" as a tribute to the Crosby-Hope movies on the road. Sonoma isn't, of course, our real destination, but it's not clear Bob and Bing were headed to Morocco, either. Of course, the Crosby-Hope comparison works: my travelling companion can't stop singing & I've got the big nose and the rapier wit (yeah, that's supposed to be funny, Ken).
I plan on keeping the blog simple: you know, about 250 words; each day's will include a picture or two -- of a sight, of a meal (this may end up being as much about food as the scenes), of a winery (I think there are 600 on the itinerary), of whatever is worthy of a picture (Mrs. H takes 10,000 a day on vacation).
There will also be repeated lines, repeated Broadway lyrics (you may recognize them eventhough I can't), and maybe a movie or play review or two.
So, hold on to your fruit-filled hat, we are on our way.
The Hope-ful One.
